Archived: St. John’s University To Host Maple Tapping Day

St. John’s University in Collegeville will be hosting its annual inaugural maple sugar community tapping day this Saturday, March 15.

Participants are asked to join in helping university volunteers put out about 1100 taps in area maple trees. No experience is needed.

Spearheaded by Brother Walter Kieffer, this event will be hosted at the St. John’s Sugar Shack. Volunteers are asked to dress warmly as they will be out in the woods for most of the day.

Community Tapping Day is the first of the maple syrup festivities the university will host. There will be two maple syrup festivals following tapping day, one on March 29th and one on April 5th.

This free tapping event will start a 2 p.m. Saturday and last until 5 p.m.
