ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) – A bloodhound credited with helping save the life of a toddler in Stearns County has died.
Olivia was the K-9 partner of Stearns County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Theisen. A necropsy determined Olivia died New Year’s Eve of a twisted stomach recently.
Three-year-old Elizabeth Schefers disappeared on her family’s farm in Brockway in November 2012.
The St. Cloud Times says Olivia and another bloodhound tracked the girl’s scent to a hay bale. The toddler fell from the hay bale, suffered broken bones and was trapped in a small space behind the bale of hay.
