The annual Stearns County Food Safety Awards were presented earlier this week to a St. Joseph restaurant and Melrose school.

According to the Stearns County Environmental Services Department, the Local Blend in St. Joseph received the Food Safety Award for the restaurant category. Owners of The Local Blend Jeff and Stacie Engholm accepted the award at Wednesday’s Stearns County Commissioners meeting.

Jeff Engholm is an adjunct professor at SCSU who teaches the advanced audio editing class and is a member of KVSC’s own Shake a Hamster Band.

St. Mary’s Catholic School in Melrose won the Food Safety Award in the school category.
