Stearns County Releases Preliminary 2014 Budget And Tax Levy

The Stearns County Board of Commissioners approved its 2014 preliminary budget and tax levy. The proposed tax levy is $68 million out of the total budget of $133 million.
Stearns County has proposed to reduce its levy for the third year in a row.
According to County Administrator George Rindelaub, the main plans behind the 2014 budget include several road construction projects. Also plans for Human Services funding in response to an increased demand for mental healthcare and juvenile detention services. As well as $1 million of insurance increases for the new Federal Affordable Care Act.
The final budget and tax levy will be approved after the Truth in Taxation public hearing and will be held on December 3.
