Archived: Storm Near Sauk Centre Causes Barn Fire

A barn in Raymond Township near Sauk Centre went up in flames on Monday.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and Sauk Centre Fire Department were sent out just before 2:30 p.m to respond to the fire. They discovered that the fire had been caused by a lightning strike from a thunderstorm. The owners of the barn were identified as 71-year-old Wayne Schlaak and 70-year-old Nancy Schlaak. The barn was moderately damaged.

The barn was empty at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
