Archived: Third Annual Edible Book Festival Monday

A whole library of edible art was on display Monday inside the The James W. Miller Learning Resources Center at St. Cloud State University.

KVSC’s Justus Sanchez has the audio story.

The edible book festival is a part of National Library Week and is celebrated across the nation. The basic concept of the festival is to represent a piece of literature with food. Festival organizer Cathy Coats says entrants can depict their chosen story in many ways.

The Edible Book Festival at SCSU began three years ago, and was originally a part of the Miller Centers’ ten year anniversary celebration.

This year’s first place winner was a rice crispy rainbow fish. The rainbow fish art was created by Pa-Ying Lee, she was inspired to enter the contest by popular television show Cake Boss. Lee said that Rainbow Fish was the first book that she read in her native Hmong language.
