Archived: Thursday’s Snowfall Breaks St. Cloud Record

Thursday’s winter storm dumped more snow in one day than the average snowfall for the entire month of February.

St. Cloud State University Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman says St. Cloud received 7.6 inches of snow from this latest winter storm. That’s more than the average snowfall of 7.1 inches for the month of February.

Thursday’s 7.6 inches of snow also broke a St. Cloud record for daily snowfall that was set back in 1953 of 6.3 inches. So far, St. Cloud has recorded 12.8 inches of snow in February.

Overall the St. Cloud seasonal snowfall of 53.4 inches ranks 7th in highest snow totals through February. The highest snowfall through February in St. Cloud was set back in 1937 with a total of 73 inches of snow, according to Weisman.
