Archived: Trial Set To Begin in Rockville Shooting Case

The Stearns County attorney’s office has confirmed testimony is scheduled to be heard in the trial of Marcus Barshaw later this week.

The 29-year-old Barshaw is facing four charges, including 1st degree murder, in the Oct. 21, 2012 shooting death of Rockville resident Jeffery Schutz. After allegedly shooting Schutz six times, Barshaw later fled the scene, causing a lockdown and man-hunt in the small town 20 minutes west of St. Cloud.

Barshaw was later shot by police after he had failed to drop his weapons when he was taken into custody.

Barshaw is facing possible life-in-prison charges.

According to Shan Wang, of the Criminal Division of the Attorney’s office, Barshaw’s trial is set to begin on Thursday.
