A St. Cloud man is in jail after leading the St. Cloud police on a vehicle-chase early Wednesday morning that went for almost twelve miles.
The chase began in the 2000 block of 27th Street Southeast after police were called to the area for a complaint of a possible vehicle break-in. 35-year-old Omar Santiago Alvarez was identified as the suspect.
Alvarez was seen leaving the area in a black two-door pickup truck, which lead to a chase that went through St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids before ending in the 1500 block of 9th Avenue North of St. Cloud.
No one was injured during the chase and Alvarez was booked and taken to the Stearns County Jail for two warrants, fleeing in a motor vehicle, driving after cancellation, theft, tampering with a motor vehicle, and possession of a prescription drug.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Sauk Rapids Police Department, and the Benton County Sherriff’s Department also helped in the chase.
