Archived: Winter Storm Warning Issued For Central Minnesota Into Tomorrow

The St. Cloud Area is currently under a Winter Storm Warning. While the snow may have stopped falling, the winds picking up later today could cause potential problems.

According to SCSU Meteorology Professor Bob Wesiman, winds will start to blow 20-35 MPH with gusts in the 40’s. The usual windy spots in Central and South Central Minnesota will have gusts to or above 50 MPH. That will take the loose snow from this storm and the previous one and cause near whiteout conditions in open areas, making travel nearly impossible.

I-94 is closed west of Alexandria and highway 10 west of Detroit Lakes is also closed. No travel is advised to the west of the Wadena-Sauk Centre-Belgrade-Willmar line.
