Archived: Woman Drives All Over St. Cloud Area Before Being Stopped By Police

A woman was arrested Sunday morning after ignoring officer attempts to pull her over.

Waite Park Police say just before 4 a.m. a call was made about a woman driving all over the road near the Crossroads Mall. The officer found the car near 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue North in Waite Park. The driver ran a red light at 2nd Avenue and Division, the officer then flashed his lights. The woman kept driving and the officer saw her throw something out, which the officer found to be marijuana.

The driver kept on toward St. Joseph and got onto Interstate 94 and took the exit for St. Johns University to return to St. Joseph on County Road 75. Other officers deployed stop sticks on County Road 75, stopping the front left tire. The driver continued until the tire fell apart, at which 21-year-old Kelly Ann Porter of Sauk Rapids was arrested.

Porter is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail on charges of 3rd degree DUI, fleeing in a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a small amount of marijuana and misuse of 9-1-1, as it was determined some of the calls were Porter herself.
