Benke Named NSIC Player of Week
03/30/2011 - 12:00 PM
The St. Cloud State baseball team came back from Oklahoma with a couple of wins earlier this week and saw one of their captains get rewarded for his play as Joey Benke has been named NSIC Player of the Week. The Roseau, Minnesota native batted .625 in two games on Sunday and Monday helping the 8th ranked Huskies to a couple wins. The outfielder went 3-for-4 from the plate in a 6-3 win against Eastern New Mexico and then capped off the weekend with a 2-for-4 day against Central Oklahoma. In the 10-2 win, Benke recorded a double and drove in a run.
The Huskies will be in action this coming weekend as they take on Minnesota State University in Mankato on April 2nd and 3rd. KVSC's Dave Overlund will have coverage of those games online if they are played in Mankato starting at 1:30 p.m. on the 2nd and noon on the 3rd.
