Bowl with the Huskies
02/25/2013 - 11:30 AM
On Sunday, February 24th, St Cloud State University held its annual Bowl-a-Thon at Granite Bowl South in St. Cloud. The event was free and open to the public with donations being encouraged for the Make-A-Wish foundation. The event placed SCSU student athletes with adoring fans and families for an afternoon of fun, prizes and autographs. Each family was placed with various members of SCSU athletics and had the chance to bowl two games together. KVSC Sports Director Scott Gross and his family were placed with the SCSU baseball team. Near the end of the event, Michelle Burke and Molli Mott from the SCSU Women’s hockey team came over to check us out and bowl a few frames. The players were kind and cordial and spoke to the kids about school and the sports they play. A lot of high fives and smiles were exchanged throughout the day. Those who attended were impressed with the players and the way they handled themselves, “I was super impressed, they were so kind and the way they interacted with the kids just melted my heart. I was super impressed with the event and they made such an impact on the kids.” Children had the opportunity to win prizes including T-Shirts that could then be autographed by the many student athletes on hand. Scott Gross summed up the experience by stating “I can’t personally thank St Cloud State University or its student athletes enough for another impressive performance. Who knows, you may have just locked up some future recruits!”
