Final Regular Season Home Games
02/27/2013 - 11:30 AM
The #7 ranked SCSU Huskies will play their final regular season home games this weekend when the Michigan Tech Huskies come to town. SCSU currently sits in the top spot of the WCHA and needs just 7 more points to secure the conference title this season, a feat they have never accomplished. The Michigan Tech Huskies are currently tied for 10th place in the conference and are not ranked nationally.
This week two SCSU Huskies were again honored by the WCHA for their performance last weekend in Colorado Springs against the Tigers. Freshman, Jonny Brodzinski is the WCHA Rookie of the Week after a four point weekend featuring a trio of goals. Brodzinski has 17 goals and 10 assists this season and leads the team with a +25 on the plus/minus. The other St. Cloud State Husky getting attention this week is sophomore, Andrew Prochno. Prochno is the Defensive player of the week after charting five points in the Colorado College series. He scored a goal and notched an assist in Friday's loss then finished the weekend with three assists in Saturday's 5-2 victory.
Both games of the series can be heard on KVSC. Friday’s coverage begins at 7 p.m. with the Jeff Giesen Show, an in-depth look at the post-season action for the SCSU women’s hockey team. The puck drops at 7:37 for game one of the series. On Saturday coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. with a 7:07 drop of the puck. Saturday is Senior Night, so tune in for a special senior salute that takes a look back at the careers of the three seniors on the team; Taylor Johnson, Ben Hanowski and Drew LeBlanc.
