The men’s hockey team is coming off a road series with the University of North Dakota where the Huskies stole 3 of 4 points that catapulted them into the top spot in the WCHA.
Two Huskies were honored this week by the WCHA for their play in the series. Freshman Jonny Brodzinski and Senior Ben Hanowski. Brodzinski scored two goals and notched one assist to earn him the Rookie of the Week honor. He is currently riding an 11 game point streak and is tied with teammate Kalle Kossila for the lead in goals among WCHA freshmen. Hanowski notched 3 goals on 10 shots over the weekend to earn the title of Offensive Player of the week. He has scored in the past three games and leads the team with 88 shots on the season. Hanowski is also one of three Huskies that appear on the first phase of fan voting for the Hobey Baker Award, along with Drew LeBlanc and Nic Dowd.
The team currently sits in first place in the WCHA and is ranked 12th in the USCHO polls. This weekend the team will travel to Bemidji to take on the BSU Beavers in another WCHA matchup.
