Huskies Are NSIC Champions!

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has a new champion, the St. Cloud State Huskies! The NSIC Tournament wrapped up on Sunday with the Huskies taking down the Winona State Warriors 5-3 in the championship game at Franklin Rogers Field in Mankato, Minnesota.

It wasn’t easy for the Huskies however, heading into the fourth inning they were tied with the Warriors 2-2. Sophomore speedster Phil Imholte gave SCSU the lead for good with his second double of the day to give the Huskies a 3-2 lead. St. Cloud added some insurance in the fifth inning via a two-run home run by Joey Althoff.

Freshman phenom Kyle Fischer picked up the win in relief for the Huskies, tossing 3 1/3 innings while striking out five. The New Ulm, Minnesota native remained perfect on the season at 7-0.

The Huskies now have a school-record 42 wins on the season and sport an overall record of 42-9.
