Huskies Earn 4 of 6 NCHC Points From Denver Series
02/11/2014 - 10:15 AM
The St. Cloud State men’s hockey team hosted the University of Denver over the weekend. The Huskies and Pioneers traded goals back and forth on Friday night and needed extra time to decide a winner. Regulation wasn’t enough time to get things decided, nor was overtime. Friday’s game went to a shoot out where Denver prevailed for the extra NCHC point.
On Saturday SCSU started freshman goaltender, Charlie Lindgren in net. It was the second time Lindgren had seen the Pioneers this season and his fourth career start. In the game the Huskies trailed 2-0 at the halfway point of the second period. The Huskies then proceeded to score 4 unanswered goals to skate away with a 4-2 victory.
The St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey team will welcome the Duluth Bulldogs this weekend. SCSU has just 8 games remaining on their regular season schedule. Both games this weekend can be heard on 88.1FM. Friday’s game is slated for a 7:37 puck drop with a pregame show at 7pm. Saturday’s puck drop is at 7:07 with a pre games how at 6:45.
The Huskies now maintain sole possession of first place in the conference and remain in sixth place in USCHO polls this week.
Also of note sophomore defender Ethan Prow and senior forward, Nic Dowd are NCHC Defensive and Offensive players of the week.
