Huskies go 2-1 against Jamestown College; Open NSIC play against Duluth on Tuesday

The St. Cloud State Huskies returned home to wrap up the non-conference part of their season against Jamestown College. They wasted no time on Thursday annihilating the Jimmies 10-0 and getting two runs each from Jessica Goerger and Alyssa Coletto. The second half of the Thursday night double-header was cancelled due to weather.

Friday's double-header got off to an unfavorable start for the Huskies as they were shocked by Jamestown 9-7, but they bounced back in a big way with a 10-2 victory in the later game. The Huskies went through three pitchers in the first game totaling 9 runs allowed (8 earned) on 16 hits. Abby Bunnell and Tricia DeBoer each scored twice in the loss.

The Huskies came right back in the second game led by Abby Bunnell's 2 runs on 2 hits (eight other Huskies got on the board). Jessica Goerger would blast in a grand slam in the second inning to give the Huskies a 5-0 lead and they never looked back. Megan Hedstrom would pitch all 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs, both earned.

St. Cloud State is now 14-10 on the year and will open up NSIC play on Tuesday against the University of Minnesota-Duluth at the James S. Malosky Stadium. First pitch is at 1pm and the second game starts at 3pm.

The Bulldogs are 16-7 this season and have won 7 of their last 9 games. They average just under six runs a game and hit .334 as a team. Sam Hartmann leads the pitching rotation with a 10-2 record and a 2.89 ERA.

The Huskies average just over five runs per game and hit .295 as a team. Senna Francesconi and Kelly Franks lead the pitching rotation. Francesconi has a 4-4 record and a 5.57 ERA and Franks is 5-3 with a 3.37 ERA.
