Huskies Steamroll To Record-Setting Win Over Crossroads College
Chuckie Smith led the Huskies with a career-high 17 points.

The St. Cloud State University Men’s Basketball team reached the century mark on the scoreboard for the first time since February 6th, 2010 when they beat the Beavers of Bemidji State 107-71. 1179 fans came to Halenbeck Hall tonight to watch the Huskies steamroll their way to a 102-48 victory over the Crossroads College Knights of Rochester, Minnesota.

The Huskies had 6 players score in double-figures led by Chuckie Smith who notched a career-high 17 points in the game. Freshmen Andy Foley and Jon Averkamp each set new seasons highs with 11 and 10 points respectively. Rounding out the players in double figures were Scottie Stone (12), James Fort (10) and Donnell Cegers (10).

As a team the Huskies scored 70 bench points! A couple of other season records set by the team tonight include: points in the paint (46), second chance points (34), fast break points (10), three-point field goals made (9), and three-point percentage (.391).

However it wasn’t just in the score column that the Huskies shined. They also set a new season-high in assists as a team with 19 and out-rebounded the Knights 58-26. On top of that they picked the Knights’ pockets 11 times and turned away 5 shot attempts.

All of these stats contributed to the seriously lopsided final score.

With the win the Huskies improve to 4-2 on the year and will next travel to face undefeated Bemidji State (5-0) on Friday and UM-Crookston on Saturday. They next return to Halenbeck Hall on Friday, December 12th against MSU-Moorhead at 8pm.
