It took a last-second shot on Saturday to keep the Husky men’s basketball team from an undefeated weekend as SCSU fell to Augustana 89-87 at the buzzer. The loss came after a narrow 66-59 win over Wayne State on Friday night for the Huskies.
Brett Putz showed up to play for SCSU on Friday as he led all scorers with 23 points in the victory over WSC. Andrew Bernstetter fell a rebound shy of a double-double as he notched 12 points and nine boards as St. Cloud extended its win streak to five games.
That win streak would be halted Saturday as Augustana’s late game heroics downed the Huskies at Halenbeck Hall 89-87. Taylor Witt poured in 32 points for SCSU, his 16th straight game scoring in double figures. Bernstetter had another solid game for the Huskies as he posted 16 points and ten rebounds, his sixth double-double of the season.
The Huskies are now 11-8 overall and 10-5 in the always tough Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
