Matt Reimer finishes a successful debut season as head coach at 17-11.

The St. Cloud State men’s basketball team split last weekend beating Minot State University 93-85 on Friday before falling to the University of Mary on Saturday 87-82.

As a team the Huskies shot 55% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

Minot State was led in scoring by Tyler Rudolph (22) who finished 10 of 16 from the field. As a team the Beavers shot 47% from the field and from outside.

Poydras again paced the Huskies in Saturday’s loss with 27 points. Connor Niehaus (14), Cegers (13), and Alcantara (10) rounded out the Huskies in double figures.

As a team the Huskies shooting percentages dropped to 41% from the field and 29% from downtown. They went 24 of 31 (77%) from the charity stripe.

Jaycob Velasco led the Marauders with 16 points and he hit three big threes in the second half to help hold off the Huskies.

With the split St. Cloud State finishes the year 17-11 overall and 13-9 in the NSIC. The record gives them the 3rd seed in the North Division and they will face Southwest Minnesota State University (12-16, 8-14) at Halenbeck Hall in the first round of the NSIC Tournament.
