12/02/2009 - 11:15 AM
USA Hockey has announced the preliminary 29-man roster for the World Junior Championships and a familiar name to Husky fans is on the list, freshman goaltender Mike Lee. The Roseau native is one of two goalies on the roster, along with Jack Campbell, who currently plays for the US National Developmental Team. Lee has been as good as advertised for St. Cloud State this year, posting a 2-4-2 record with a 2.60 goals-against-average and a 91 percent save percentage so far in his rookie season.
There are seven players from the WCHA on the preliminary roster including Minnesota’s Jordan Schroeder, North Dakota’s Danny Kristo and Wisconsin’s pair of Jake Gardiner and Derek Stepan. The three day pre-tournament training camp will be held December 17th-19th in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Lee and the 2010 United States team will then compete in the World Junior Championships December 26th-January 5th in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan.
