Lieser Named NCBWA Pitcher of Week, Huskies Ranked #1 in Region

St. Cloud State sophomore pitcher Scott Lieser has been named Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association for the week ending May 2nd!
The right-handed hurler from Browerville, Minnesota tossed a no-hitter on April 27th against the Northern State Wolves, striking out 10 batters in the process. Lieser is perfect on the season with a 7-0 record and sports a 3.11 earned-run-average.
SCSU has also kept their hold on the #1 spot in the NCAA Division Two Central Region rankings. The latest rankings were released on May 4th. St. Cloud is 35-8 on the season and owns a 23-6 conference record in the always tough Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The Huskies are 30-6 against Central Region opponents this season and will be in action on May 7th against Concordia University at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. First pitch for the twinbill is slated for 1 p.m.
