10/26/2015 - 3:55 AM
The St Cloud State men’s hockey team was swept by the Quinnipac University Bobcats this weekend. SCSU came into the weekend undefeated at 4-0 and ranked as high as ninth in the country. On Friday the Huskies got off to a hot start with sophomore Judd Peterson scoring his team leading fourth and fifth goals of the season giving St Cloud a 2-0 lead. Through six games this season, Peterson leads this team in points, goals and shots. But the Bobcats scored five unanswered goals against St Cloud goaltender Charlie Lindgrin and Quinnipiac coasted to a 5-2 victory.
On Saturday, SCSU let loose on 41 shots on net but only lit the lamp once. The Bobcats used a two goal first period and never trailed throughout their 4-1 win over the Huskies. Junior Ben Storm scored the lone goal for St Cloud. Over the final five periods of play this weekend SCSU was outscored 9-1. With the losses St Cloud State is 4-2 on the season and will open conference play this weekend against the University of Miami-Ohio at the Brooks-Center.
