Men's Hockey Tabbed in Early Polls

When the St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey team takes the ice for the first time Saturday in an exhibition game versus Manitoba, it will be the first glance at a squad that has been tabbed with some high expectations. As preseason polls continue to trickle out, St. Cloud State finds themselves ranked number six in the nation in the USA Today poll. Defending national champion Boston College is first, while WCHA rival North Dakota is second.

The Huskies are not only getting noticed nationally, but in their own conference as well. The WCHA coaches picked the Huskies to finish second in the conference behind North Dakota. UND got ten first place votes, while SCSU received the other two. The Huskies were picked third by members of the media in the WCHA behind UND and Minnesota Duluth.

Last season the Huskies finished third in the WCHA and won their first NCAA tournament game versus Northern Michigan. St. Cloud’s game Saturday against Manitoba will be carried right here on KVSC- pregame starts at 6:40 p.m. and puck drop is slated for 7:07 p.m.
