St. Cloud State track and field coach Seth Mischke has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference coach of the year. The Worland, Wyoming native led SCSU to a second place finish at the 2011 NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships and saw two of his athletes win individual titles.
Senior Adam Kershaw won the discus and placed seventh in the shot put. Senior distance runner Dan Allen also collected an individual title. The Waite Park, Minnesota native took first in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes and one second.
This is the best outdoor finish for a Husky team under Mischke in his 12 years as head coach. The University of Minnesota graduate coached SCSU to a fifth place outdoor finish in 2005.
