SCSU Football Wins Third Straight

The St. Cloud State football team continued to roll as they took it to the University of Mary on Saturday, winning 30-14 at Husky Stadium.

It was a ground-game frenzy for the Huskies as they rushed for 291 yards on 49 carries against the Marauders in the victory. The Huskies were led on the ground by freshman Damon Treat. The Fairfield, California native ran 12 times for 130 yards in front of about four-thousand fans.

Redshirt-freshman signal-caller Phillip Klaphake continued his impressive season. The quarterback accounted for 171 total yards and three touchdowns, two rushing and one passing. Klaphake has now thrown for 937 yards through four games with eight touchdowns and just one interception, a key to the Huskies’ early season success.

SCSU is now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Huskies will hit the road as they take on Northern State University on Saturday in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m.
