The Husky soccer squad celebrated 20 seasons of SCSU Soccer as they opened up the home portion of the season over the weekend. The Huskies hosted Northwest Missouri State University on Friday night in an aggressive battle on the banks of the Mississippi River. The Huskies scored the first goal of the game as Gabby Fleck sent the ball soaring past the Wildcat goalkeeper, Kelsey Adams. The Wildcats would knot things up at 1-1 before halftime as Anna Calgaard got one past the reigning NSIC goalkeeper of the week Brittany Plombon. SCSU came out of the locker room with a mission in the final portion of the game and scored one more goal off the foot of Naomi Kolhoff which was good enough to send the Huskies out on top with a 2-1 victory.
On Sunday the Huskies started conference play by welcoming the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth to Husky Stadium. The Bulldogs proved their offensive weapons in the game was more than the Huskies could handle. UMD took an early lead that the Huskies would never recover. SCSU fell 4-1 in the game. SCSU is now 3-1 on the young season and will host Winona State on Saturday afternoon.
