Smith Named to Daktronics All-American Team

Hopefully St. Cloud State sophomore third baseman Jordan Smith has a big trophy case, because the awards keep coming in.

The Willmar native was named second team Daktronics All-American for an amazing spring for the St. Cloud State Huskies. It is the first time in team history that a SCSU player has earned NCAA Division 2 second team recognition from Daktronics.

Smith, who was also named 2011 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Year and Central Region Player of the Year, had a .382 batting average for St. Cloud with 78 hits, 22 doubles, seven home runs and 57 RBI.

Smith is getting ready to play in the Cape Cod League this summer for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox and expects to be drafted in June’s Major League Baseball entry draft.
