St. Cloud Rox Begin Inagural Season June 2nd With Cy Young Award Winner
Bret Saberhagen is a two-time Cy Young award winner

The St. Cloud Rox will kick off their inaugural Northwoods League season Saturday, June 2 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. Joining the Rox on opening day will be former MLB Cy Young award winner Bret Saberhagen. Saberhagen will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on opening day as the Rox take on defending North Division champion Mankato MoonDogs.

Saberhagen played 16 seasons in the MLB, where he played with the Kansas City Royals, the New York Mets, the Colorado Rockies, and the Boston Red Sox. While playing for Kansas City in 1985, Saberhagen won a Cy Young award with a 20-6 record and a 2.87 ERA. In 1989, he won his second Cy Young with the Royals, earning a 23-6 record and a 2.16 ERA.

The opening game on June 2nd will start at 7:05 p.m. and will also feature fireworks immediately after the game. Tickets for the Rox’s inaugural season are still available, and you can purchase online at St. Cloud or by calling 320-240-9798.
