The St. Cloud State (4-4, 2-1 NSIC) men’s basketball team hits the road this week for a couple of in-conference matchups against MSU-Moorhead and Northern State University.

The Huskies are coming off a weekend sweep at home beating Bemidji State 80-62 and Minnesota-Crookston 97-68.

The road isn’t going to be easy on the Huskies as the Moorhead Dragons currently sit atop the NSIC North Division with a 3-0 mark in conference (they’re 10-1 overall). The Dragons hold an 8.5 scoring margin and have the 3rd best field goal defense in the league (.407).

Northern State is 5-4 coming into the weekend, but they’re 3-0 on their home floor and have won by margins of 35, 20, and 5 at the Wachs Arena this season.

Both opponents will be looking to run up the score on the Huskies this weekend as the Dragons aver 81.8 points per game and the Wolves put up 82.1 points per contest.

The St. Cloud State (3-3, 3-0 NSIC) women’s basketball team will also travel to Moorhead and Northern State this weekend.

The Lady Huskies also picked up a weekend sweep holding Bemidji State to 25% shooting in a 64-38 win before surviving a match against Minnesota-Crookston 70-67.

MSU-Moorhead currently tied with the Huskies for the top spot in the NSIC North Division with a 3-0 in conference record. The Dragons are scoring 76.5 points per game, but are also allowing over 68 points to opponents on a nightly basis. So an efficient offense will likely be the key to the Huskies game plan on Friday.

Northern State lost Rachel Krogman to graduation last offseason and, as a result, have struggled in the early portion of the conference schedule (1-2 NSIC). They’re still a formidable foe, though, with the 4th best scoring defense in the league (allowing 58.6 ppg) and the 4th best field goal defense in the league (.361).
