The St. Cloud State softball team fell in the first round of the NSIC Tournament 8-4 to the University of Sioux Falls.

The Huskies got on the board quickly when Jessica Goerger singled to bring home Abby Bunnell. Sioux Falls evened the score in the top of the 3rd inning with an RBI single from Erin Scott.

The Husky offense exploded for 3 runs in the 4th inning. Kelsie Fitch hit a 2 RBI double to get things started and Veronica Wold drove in another score to put the Huskies up 4-1.

Unfortunately, the Huskies would suffer from their “one bad inning” syndrome. The Cougars would score 7 runs in the top of the 6th frame to take the 8-4 victory.

The Huskies are not yet out of the tournament (it’s double elimination) and they will play the winner of the Minnesota State-Upper Iowa matchup. First pitch for that game is set for Thursday at 4pm.
