The St. Cloud State softball team has been at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida since March 6th. 11 games were played and the Huskies went 7-4 over that stretch to improve them to 12-9 on the year.

St. Cloud State got off on the wrong foot losing in 6 innings to Truman State 12-3 and falling to Grand Valley State 9-5. After that the Huskies went on a tear winning 6 straight. Slippery Rock University broke the streak by coming out with a 5-1 victory on March 11th and Merrimack College made the day even tougher for the Huskies by knocking them off 5-3. The March 12th game against Hillsdale College was cancelled allowing the Huskies to get a little more rest before defeating Maryville University 5-1 to end the road trip.

After the road trip the Huskies are hitting .291 as a team that translates to 4.9 runs per contest. Jessica Goerger leads the team in hits (25) and triples (4). She is tied with Megan Hedstrom and Megan Lehnen in doubles with 5.

Kelly Franks (2.3 era, 3-1 win/loss) and Senna Francesconi (5.79, 3-4 win/loss) have combined for more than 90 innings pitched this season and have led the Huskies from the mound. Megan Hedstrom (2.49 era, 4-1 win/loss) has also performed well from the mound so far this season.

The Huskies return to the Husky dome on Thursday to host Jamestown College. The Jimmies hold a 10-8 record on the season. The Thursday double-header begins at 6pm with the second game starting at 8pm. The Huskies will face Jamestown in another double-header on Friday as well. The games are at 11am and 1pm.
