The St. Cloud State softball team’s schedule got shook up a bit this past weekend. The Saturday game against Wayne State got postponed until Sunday. When they finally did take the field, Tricia DeBoer wasted no time getting the Huskies on the board. She doubled down the left field line in the 1st inning to put up two runs for St. Cloud State. Wayne State would answer with a run of its own in the bottom of the first inning.

Both teams were quiet until the 4th inning until Abby Bunnell was walked with the bases loaded to put the Huskies up 3-1. Wayne State would again answer with a run scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the fourth. However, the Huskies would hold on for the rest of the game to pick up the 3-2 victory.

Kelly Franks pitched a complete game with 9 strikeouts and just 1 walk given up. She is now 12-5 on the season.

Wayne State started off the second game on the right foot with a run in the bottom of the 1st inning to take the lead. St. Cloud State tied the game in the second inning with a sacrifice bunt leading to an unearned run from Tricia DeBoer.

Both teams again went quiet until the bottom of the 7th inning when the Wildcats knocked in the winning run with the bases loaded.

With the split the Huskies are now 24-22 on the season (10-12 NSIC) and will travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to play Augustana College (39-7, 20-2) on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm and 2pm. They will complete their final road trip of the season on Wednesday against Minnesota-Moorhead.
