Successful Weekend of Husky Hoops

It was the final regular season games for the SCSU basketball teams as they each hosted a pair of games on the hardwood. They celebrated senior day on Saturday, honoring the seniors from both teams between the games on Saturday. It also marked the last regular season home game for legendary men's basketball coach, Kevin Schlagel, he was celebrated with a reception following the victory.

The women’s basketball posted a weekend sweep starting off with 87-46 win over Minnesota Crookston Friday night. Then, fighting for a home playoff spot Saturday, the Huskies defeated the Bemidji State Beavers 91-80. The women's team finishes the conference season with a 12-10 mark, 16-10 overall.

The Men’s basketball team took down Minnesota Crookston 78-66 on Friday night before battling the Beaver battle on Saturday. The Huskies defeated the Beavers, 92-60 to have a share in the NSIC North title along with MSU Moorhead and Bemidji State. The Huskies finished the season with 15 wins and seven losses in NSIC play, they were 19-7 overall.

Both teams have earned a home playoff game thanks to their own wins and some help around the conference. The women's team will tip off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February, 26 against Sioux Falls. The men's game will follow at 8:00 p.m. and they will also take on Sioux Falls in the first round of the NSIC Tournament. Listen to both games on 88.1 FM KVSC, coverage begins at 5:45 p.m.
