The Huskies Swim and Dive team has gained academic all-region accolades. Two swimmers have gained 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 7 NCAA Division II at-large team honors. Junior swimmer and Sauk Rapids native, Abby Rasmussen, was named to the women’s team. Junior swimmer, Alex Bryan, from Appleton, Wisconsin named to the men’s team.
To be eligible for consideration by Capital One student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.3, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, be a varsity starter or key reserve and be nominated by the school’s sports information director.
Nic Dowd from the SCSU men’s hockey team has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 6 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey at–large team.

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced that 34 members of various spring sports at St. Cloud State have made the All-Academic list. Athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or high to be eligible, completed a full academic year and have reached sophomore status.

Interviews begin today (Thursday) for the next SCSU women’s hockey coach. Candidates for the position include Tracy Cassano, John Harrington, Jenny Potter, Eric Rud and Jim Fetter, the current assistant coach of the women’s team.
The position is vacant as Jeff Giesen’s contract was not renewed following this hockey season. Giesen coached at SCSU for eight seasons.

Former St. Cloud State running back Michael Walker is getting a chance to play in the NFL. Walker received an invite to Minnesota Vikings rookie mini-camp starting Thursday in Eden Prairie. The camp runs through Saturday.
If all goes well for Walker at the mini-camp, he could be signed as a free agent by the club.

The St. Cloud State baseball team had their 2014 run come to an end in the NSIC Tournament. Friday afternoon SCSU fell in the final inning of the game to the Winona State Warriors by a score of 5-4. With the loss the Huskies run in the double-elimination NSIC Tournament comes to an end.
NSIC Tournament results:
May 7-Huskies defeat Northern State University 6-0
May 8-Huskies fall the Augustana 7-5
May 8-Huskies defeat Minnesota State 2-1
May 9-Huskies fall the Winona State 5-4
On Monday the 2014 Division II Baseball Regionals were announced. Just two NSIC teams will advance to participate: Augustana and Minnesota State. The Huskies were passed on thus, ending their 2014 season. The Huskies posted an overall record of 37-14 this season and a 24-9 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. This is the sixth consecutive season the Huskies posted more than 30 wins.

The St. Cloud State University Baseball team ended the regular season playing a series with the University of Mary at Joe Faber Field this weekend. The series featured a four-game sweep over for the SCSU Huskies.
On Saturday, the Huskies changed field locations three times but, never seemed to face difficulty as they took the first game scores 7-5 and then won game two in walk-off fashion 2-1. Sunday senior day was celebrated for the seven members of the team who will complete their Husky career this season. SCSU sailed to another pair of wins by scores of 4-3 and 7-5. The Huskies finish the regular season 35-12 overall and 23-9 in conference play. Following Sunday's games Ted Leroux caught up with the head coach of the Huskies, Pat Dolan, about the team's weekend performance and a look ahead to the post-season. Click here to listen.
Wednesday starts the post season with the NSIC Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The #3 Huskies will play #6 Northern State University on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

St. Cloud State's Track and Field team was busy over the weekend. Participating in two meets on Saturday: the Meet of the UnSaintly at Hamline University and the Howard Wood Relays hosted by the University of Sioux Falls.
Highlights of the day include a new school record in the women’s 4x100mrelay, a time of 48.03 seconds. That mark is 3rd in the NSIC and broke the SCSU record that was set in 1999. In men’s events Rafeal Saez won the discus title and finished third in shot put. Keyshawn Davis won the long jump competition.
Up next, the Huskies head to the NSIC Championships May 8-10 in Winona, MN.

The Men’s golf team is in action today (Monday) through Wednesday at the NCAA Regional in Eureka, Missouri at the Fox Run Golf Club. The Huskies will tee off in the 54-hole tournament at 12:50 on Monday.

The St. Cloud State baseball team will close out their regular season this Saturday and Sunday against the University of Mary. Although St. Cloud will host both games this weekend, Saturday's game will be played in Clear Lake, Minnesota. Saturday's game was scheduled to be played in Cold Spring as Rocori is the alma mater of Pat Dolan and Eric Loxtercamp however, the games were moved due to field conditions. Sunday’s game will be played at Joe Faber Field.

The St. Cloud Rox season is just a month away and as a part of their home opener on May 30th, Minnesota Twins great and two-time World Series champion Gene Larkin will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Single game tickets for the home opener go on sale this Friday, May 2nd.

It may only be April but the college basketball game is a 24/7 affair. Dan Papp of the KVSC Sports Department sat down with head coach of the St. Cloud State women's basketball team, Lori Fish, to talk about the four new recruits joining the Husky program this coming season.
Two point guards were recruited; Andrea Thomas from Mauston, Wisconsin and Mackenzie Uter from Howard Lake Waverly-Winsted. Lauren Novak was the third guard in the recruiting class and is a long 5’11 graduate of Eau Claire Memorial high school in Wisconsin. The recruiting class is rounded out by the 5’10 forward Amanda Christianson from Alexandria, Minnesota.

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tennis Championship was held over the weekend at the Oakdale Lifetime Fitness Center in Minnetonka, MN. The Huskies entered the competition as the #3 seed.
SCSU’s women’s tennis team advanced to day two of the championships with a 5-0 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead in day one. On the second day, Sunday, the Huskies fell 5-3 to the number #2 the University of Mary. The Huskies are now 13-13 this season. Augustana won the NSIC championship.

The Husky baseball team played a pair of double headers with Bemidji State over the weekend. Games were scheduled to be played Saturday and Sunday at Joe Faber Field but, due to the weather forecasts the games were moved up a day. On Friday, the teams played at the Dassel City Field in Dassel, MN. The Huskies swept the Beavers winning 4-2 and 5-1.
On Saturday, the Huskies played their first home game of the season at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, MN. In game one pitcher Logan Spitzack threw six-hit shutout as the Huskies won 8-0. Game two featured eight scoreless innings. The ninth inning featured all the runs but the Huskies came up short, falling 3-2. Three regular season games remain for the Huskies who are 31-10 overall and 20-7 in NSIC play.

The women’s golf team posted a team-best finish at the North Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championship on Sunday, finishing in 5th place. The Huskies had a tournament total of 1416. In individuals, Katie Kruchten finished in 12th place.
The men’s golf team was scheduled to play in the St. John’s Men’s golf invitational on Sunday but, it was cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions across the state.

SCSU’s baseball team played a pair of doubleheaders on the road over the weekend, acting as the home team. Unfavorable field conditions in St. Cloud, MN moved the games to Fayette, Iowa as the Huskies faced Upper Iowa University. On Thursday the Huskies swept the bill with 8-2 and 12-2 wins. Kyle Fishcher threw five innings in game one, allowing just one hit and striking out three. In game two on Thursday Cory Fitzgerald had six innings of work with 6 strikeouts.
The Huskies split the day on Friday falling to Upper Iowa in a close game one battle 2-1. In Game two of the day the Huskies took and early lead and cruised to a 7-3 victory.
