Can the Twins go all the way?

I know that we are only 8 games into the season, but judging by the way the Minnesota Twins have been playing, I think World Series is a legitimate possibility. There is no question that this team can score runs (I mean c’mon, you’re #8 hitter in the lineup is JJ Hardy who had 2 homers in the first series) but it is how well balanced they are that will take them to the top!

Denard Span had a rough start but in the home opener he showed how dangerous he is when he gets on base. And when you have guys like Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer and Kubel looking to drive in some runs it makes it scary for opposing pitchers. I think this team will live and die by the health and consistency of the pitching. The starters: Baker, Blackburn, Pavano, Slowey, Liriano are all solid and can get you 6+ innings night in and night out, the relievers have looked solid so far, especially Jon Rauch in the closer role (perfect in his first 5 save opportunities).

The hitting will be there, that’s a given; but will the pitching hold up? If it can, get ready to wave those Homer Hankys all the way to the World Series Twins fans!

For the first time in 10 years, I have seen the Twins picking up key players for their roster instead of letting good players go and getting nothing out of it. They have revived SS JJ Hardy whose batting average was at least a .220 last year. Orlando Hudson, one of the best 2B last year and a great hitter for 15-plus years…Jim Thome. If anyone thinks that an article like this is a jinx. You’re not a true Twins fan. Get over yourselves, enjoy for the first time in 20 years…outdoor baseball. Be a fan, not a bandwagoner.
