.) When did you get involved with 88.1 FM? My freshman year, Fall 2011 (as soon as I could!!!)
.) What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC and what programs have you hosted in the past?
I currently host Morning Show Part II and it’s been my favorite show to host thus far (other than Granite City Rock Café). Last year I held down the Afternoon Progressive rock show.
.) Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s)? Youth Lagoon is a must for morning shows, also Cream, anything Jack White, and some tasty jazz tunes.
.) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM? The eclectic/wild personalities of the staff and volunteers, playing super deeps cuts you won’t hear anywhere else, and I’m aiming for a career in radio, soooo… why wouldn’t I be involved with 88.1fm!?!?
.) What is in your personal CD player, iPod, or mp3 right now (BE HONEST)? Judas Priest, AC/DC, Cream, Rage Against the Machine, The Raconteurs, Deep Purple, The White Stripes, Kiss, and Rush are in heavy rotation right now, but I switch it up every couple months. “Newer” stuff like One Day As a Lion, and Indian Handcrafts. I’ll dig anything that rocks.
.) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful). Some might find it embarrassing that I enjoy Cinderella, Night Ranger, Stryper, Def Leppard, and White Snake! Also, I went to see Good Charlotte at First Ave a couple years back… yeah, embarrassing. In my defense I went in order to get closer to a potential lady friend!!
.) What are your hobbies and interest? I front a hard-rock/funk band called “Electric Aquarium” as well as write acoustic solo music under the moniker “Spicy Tuna Melt”. I’ve been skateboarding since I was a little kid and still love it! More recently have dabbled in knife throwing. Oh!.... And long walks on the beach…. If anyone be interested!
.) When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found? Spending time with the family, jamming/recording with friends, playing shows or preparing for them, listening to music, and skateboarding.
.) If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)? An electric guitar, an endless glass bottle of ice cold cream soda, a skateboard, a bible, and spicy tuna melt!
.) What do you think is the future of radio? I think radio is going to start getting more heavily focused on local everything. News, weather, sports, I would love to hear more local music played over the airwaves! Also, less voice tracking and more great personalities will start to surface I believe.
