KHURD.JPG1.)    When did you get involved with 88.1 FM?

I started in August 2004.

2.)  What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC and what programs have you hosted in the past?

Noon news program, 4pm news and Late Night Progressive Rock Show. In the past I have hosted Morning Show Pt 1 and 2.

3.) Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s)?

MGMT, Atmosphere, MacLethal and Shiny—definitely!

4.) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM?

I’m studying journalism and want to be involved with the coverage of local and state issues in our news department. It is a great place to cover stories I enjoy working with our converging news department. In addition, I love playing great tunes to the people of Central Minnesota and those who are joining us online.

5.) What is in your personal CD player, iPod, or mp3 right now (BE HONEST)?

Atmosphere, MacLethal and yes, Lady Gaga. You could call it a bad romance.

6.) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful)

When I was hosting a particular show on KVSC one day, I quickly came to find out I wasn’t very familiar with the genre of music for that show. I got a call where a listener said, “you must not be familiar with this show. You’re playing all the wrong stuff.” Good learning moment.

7.) What are your hobbies and interest?

Video and audio production, website creation, walking/jogging, golf and hanging out with friends.

8.) When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found?

Doing something online (Facebook??), hanging out with friends or trying to find apps for my phone.

9.) If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)?

My family

A long book

A solar powered MP3 player

A really energetic and talkative friend

A lot of orange juice powder packets

10.) What do you think is the future of radio?
The need for audio production, on-air talent, writing and all the other essential components will always be there. How the final product is delivered to listeners just may change, whether it’s via the AM/FM airwaves, an online stream or through a data connection on a cell phone.
