Dana.jpg1.)  When did you get involved with 88.1 FM?

Sometime in the winter of 2008-2009

2.)  What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC and what programs have you hosted in the past?

Currently I host the Morning Show Part II on Thursday mornings. I have hosted Monday Night Live and nearly every other show on air.

3.)  Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s)?

Well I try to avoid must plays simply because I don’t want to play the same thing every time I host a show but… local music is always a must, Ween, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Phish, Dick Dale, Medeski Martin and Wood, Bassnectar, Ratatat, Hot Chip, Parliament Funkadelic, Heatbox, Charlie Parr, Cloud Cult, Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps, John Frusciante, Keller Williams, Miles Davis, Passion Pit, RJD2, Solid Gold, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Pert Near Sandstone, Grizzly Bear, Vampire Weekend, James Brown, Imogen Heap, Boards of Canada, Fleet Foxes, More Than Lights, Gorillaz (only when they feature Gruff Rhys & De La Soul.) etc.

4.)  Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM?

Independent public radio is one of the few music outlets with passion and love for music still driving it. 88.1 fm is the only radio station in central Minnesota with passion and love still driving it. Passion and love for music drives me.

5.)  What is in your personal CD player, iPod, or mp3 right now (BE HONEST)?

George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic’s album R&B skeletons in the Closet.

6.)  Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful)?

The first concert I ever attended was the Spice Girls in fifth grade. I have yet to decide if I should be ashamed or proud of that.

7.)  What are your hobbies and interests?

I am an artist and a Journalist, therefore I like to write about the arts and entertainment culture.

8.)  When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found?

With friends at music happenings. Or camping when it's doable.

9.)  If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)?

Food and water (cause that would be silly not to) and three people that I am in love with.

10.)  What do you think is the future of radio?

Obviously online radio has it’s place in the world. Luckily people enjoy vintage things such as radio stations that come in over the airwaves. Live streaming those stations online is a happy medium, so obviously KVSC IS THE FUTURE OF RADIO!
