catie_fennig.jpg1.)    When did you get involved with 88.1 FM?
Summer of 2010 I stayed in St. Cloud instead of going home to Milwaukee and I wanted to find some fun volunteering to do. I've always wanted to train to become an announcer with KVSC, and I finally had the time!

2.)  What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC and what programs have you hosted in the past?

I don't host any regular shows yet, but my first solo show was the Sisters show on Sundays at 1pm and I had a lot of fun with it.

3.) Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s)?

Stars, The Mountain Goats, Cloud Cult.  I'm especially a fan of playing local music on KVSC.

4.) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM?

Like I mentioned earlier, this was always something I've wanted to do, and I now have the time for it.

5.) What is in your personal CD player, iPod, or mp3 right now (BE HONEST)?

Quietdrive, The Rolling Stones, fun., Stars, The xx, Anberlin, The Beatles, Death Cab for Cutie, Weaver at the Loom, Cake, jj, The Fratellis, Passion Pit, and Meat Loaf.

6.) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful)

Well, there are rumors going around that I've seen the Jonas Brothers in concert twice... this is true. In my defense, the first time, I somewhat liked it, the second time, it was merely free concert tickets I didn't want to pass up. Never again will I see another teeny-bopper concert: too many screaming 11 year olds, and very pissed off parents accompanying them.

7.) What are your hobbies and interest?
Obviously, I love volunteering, with KVSC, in addition to the University Programming Board, or elsewhere.  I also like to run, swim laps, or bike outside of St. Cloud.  My biggest interests are foreign languages and traveling.

8.) When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found?
Either at my house, the FORL office, or the library. I lead an exciting life.
9.) If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)?
But to where would I be going with these things, if it were the end of the world? I'm not a very materialistic person, so I don't know what I would pick. If, however, I could take 5 things to be on a deserted island with, I'd pick my boyfriend, my best friend, green tea, my chameleon, and a good book.

10.) What do you think is the future of radio?
I can't see radio ever dying out, its too convenient for the music industry. Not to mention it is convenient for the community: hearing the news & weather in the car, winning concert tickets, or just wanting to find new music.
