KVSC's Own Tiffany Mclean:

1) When did you get involved with 88.1FM?
End of spring ‘07
2) What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC and what
programs have you hosted in the past?
In the past I hosted the Wednesday Late Night Progressive Rock show and most recently the Friday Morning Show Pt 2. I have done my fair share of the Noon Newswatch. Also, I have been know to pop up randomly as a substitute host throughout the week.
3) Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s).
There really isn’t one band I play every show, but I do seem to rotate a lot through Arcade Fire, The Frames, and Andrew Bird. Then yet you can never play too much Daughtry…
4) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1FM?
I love the radio medium, and have really grown to love the endless variety of content that KVSC allows us to dig through.
5) What is in your CD player right now (be honest)?
Well, Lily Allen is playing as I write, but the last song was “Ultimate” by Gogol Bordello, and up next looks to be the Clash. I’m a shuffle kinda girl.
6) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you've attended or album you've bought (perhaps even shameful).
Oh dear, I have a fair few. I still rock the Ace of Base is that enough, or must I really admit that I own Fall Out Boy’s most recent release?
7) What are your hobbies and interests?
I am a former gymnast and hockey goalie so I’m a fan. I coach gymnastics at a local club and watch my fair share of hockey games. I am also a “pseudo political pundit”. I love politics and discussing the issues. I have been involved with campaigning for the Democratic Party since I was 13 years old (that’s over ½ my life!)
8) When you are not at work or at KVSC where can you most likely be found?
I can be found either at the gym working, keeping up my grades by actually doing homework or at the Karate studio with my oldest niece (she is so the next Chuck Norris, minus the Huckabee support).
9) If it were the end of the world (?) and you could only take five things with you what would they be (be honest):
Ok, honestly I wouldn’t want to see the end. It would be so sad and depressing that no material possession could overcome; not even my Jane Austen collection, monkey slippers, family pictures, black hoodie, or a perpetual running mp3 player (one will be made before the end of the world!).
10) What is the most annoying request or listener inquiry you remember receiving?
I had a listener demand Ozzy Osbourne on the Blues Show during pledge drive.
11) What do you think is the future of radio?
I think we’ve started to see the future on the Internet. Mediums like iTunes are becoming very important to the industry and have begun to serve as an influence on mainstream radio. The demise of major record labels in favor of numerous independent labels, as well as individual song downloading has led average consumers to a wider base of musical options and as it continues to grow, so will the mainstream popularity of artists normally situated solely in independent venues such as KVSC. This question is a reoccurring theme in radio history from the advent of new technology to the rock surge of the 50’s and the hip-hop movement of the 90’s. It is an exciting time for radio.
