Wangari Maathai Nobel Laureate Podcast
Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai spoke at St. Cloud State University's Ritsche Auditorium on January 31, 2007. She tells her story of being selected to attend a college in the United States during the John F. Kennedy administration. Maathai shares what inspired her to form the Green Belt Movement, which has helped women plant more than 30 million trees across Kenya.
She explains complex environmental sustainability issues in a way that the listener feels motivated and connected--not overwhelmed. Maathai's visit was sponsored in part by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at SCSU.
