‘Painting at the Museum’ Preservation Workshop at the Weyerhauser Museum.
May 18 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls will become an outdoor classroom for preservation education. The museum is hosting a hands-on workshop, “Painting at the Museum.” It’s designed to teach homeowners and caretakers of historic properties all about exterior painting. Workshop attendees will learn how to prepare and paint an exterior wall at the museum, home to the Morrison County Historical Society. Instructor Anders Christensen will also teach the class how to re-glaze the window on the wall and paint the shutters.
You’ll learn about proper paint techniques, necessary tools and picking paint types. Anders will teach the chemistry of oil vs. latex paints and how to pick the right kind for aging buildings.
This workshop is hands-on and is taking place on Saturday, May 18th. Tools and supplies are provided. The workshop is a program of the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota.
