Travel the World Through 300 Years of Piano Music at SCSU

February 19 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The St. Cloud State University Department of Music invites you to Travel the World Through 300 Years of Piano Music. Shannon Wettstein Sadler, Assistant Professor of Music, will present a solo piano recital of works inspired by travel.

As long as people have been traveling, people have been making music about travel. The performance takes you through a modern piece of being an international jet setter to Bach’s piece written in 1704 when he was just nineteen-years-old to other compositions from Beethoven to the present time with Discipline 5: Travels in Outer Space, inspired by the self-mythology of the late musician Sun Ra, who claimed that he ‘arrived’ on planet earth after being born on Saturn.

Professor Wettstein Sadler’s recital is Wednesday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Ruth Gant Recital Hall in the Performing Arts Center at St. Cloud State University. The concert is free and open to the public.
