DESCRIPTION:The Stearns History Museum presents a new exhibit\, entitled “Rising to the Crisis: A County Responds to a World in Turmoil.” \nWhat does it mean to strive for the greater good? Rising to the Crisis examines Stearns County’s response to War World II. More than 4\,000 Stearns County residents joined the military\, and people on the home front volunteered for the Red Cross\, collected scrap metal\, and planted Victory Gardens. Also\, view their video on V-Mail and discover the heart-wrenching story of Bernice “Bunny” Feneis and Ervin “Stubbie” Decker. SUMMARY:CSB-SJU Presents Jodi Reeb's Painting Towards Culture
DESCRIPTION:The Fine Arts Series at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University is presenting the exhibit by Jodi Reeb\, entitled Painting Towards Culture. \nAs an artist\, Reeb wants to bring the outside world inside. She does exactly that with an immersive exhibit exploring the theme of nature’s cycles while raising awareness about the challenges pollinators\, specifically bees\, face. \nMoving between two and three-dimensional forms\, Reeb constructs paintings and sculpture layer by layer. Three main bodies of work in this exhibition explore the theme of nature’s cycles. \nThe exhibit is on view at the Alice R. DESCRIPTION:The Women on Wednesday series has returned to St. Cloud State University. \nOn Wednesday\, October 27th the presentation is Trans in 2021. \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated trans people’s already disproportionate risks for harassment\, violence\, unemployment\, rejection by family and communities\, discrimination\, poverty and homelessness. From the interpersonal to systemic levels\, transphobia presents real and significant barriers to people exercising their basic civil liberties. And while there’s so much work to do\, there’s also been so much progress by and in support of trans people living full\, authentic lives. In this session\, our panel explores the complex realities of being a trans person in 2021. We’re proud of this milestone year at Your Sound Alternative and look to bring you a wonderful season of locally produced laughs\, music\, drama and comedy. \n\n\n\nWe’re welcoming Dennis Warner as our first musical guest of the season on Wednesday\, October 27th\, the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Dennis Warner is a talented performer and storyteller. His music blends serious\, thought-provoking songs with lighter\, up-tempo tunes\, and he’s known for bringing the audience into his performances with laughter\, and maybe a sing-a-long. \nSeason tickets are on sale now through Oct. 8th\, individual show tickets will go on sale October 9th. Granite City Radio Theatre is produced for a live audience and live for radio on 88.1FM (and audio streamed). \n\n\n\nGranite City Radio Theatre host Jay Terry along with Heather and Mackenzie will have you laughing with their irreverent sketches\, and the Shades Brigade drama is welcoming a new cast member\, Shannan Paul\, as they traverse the globe in a quest to stamp out evil doers. Dan Barth’s trivia challenge will have you both laughing and scratching your head about all the double entendres!
