SUMMARY:MARY JAM // SON/BOY // OWL // SLIME MONSTERS FROM OUTER SPACE
DESCRIPTION:On SATURDAY\, June 28th\, we’re hosting a PUNK NIGHT at our new venue! Join us for a great night of local artists sharing their music. \nThis is a ticketed event. Buy your ticket ahead of time to ensure you can attend our very first show at B-Side! We do have a limited capacity. Based on ticket availability\, tickets may not be available to buy at doors. Doors open at 5:30PM\, music starts at 6:00PM. \nThis is an all-ages and SOBER event. B-Side Cafe will be serving special drinks for the event. \nLet’s meet the artists! \nOWL // alt rock \nOWL\, the sensational trio from Grand Forks\, ND\, is making waves across the Midwest! Meet the musical maestros: Bambrick (11 years old\, lead vocals and bass)\, Oliver (13 years old\, guitar and backup vocals)\, and James (15 years old\, drums). Since their epic debut in 2023\, these brothers have been tearing up the local music scene with their electrifying performances. From rocking out at top spots like the Empire Arts Center\, Dogmahal\, and Parachigo\, to throwing down at music festivals\, OWL brings a mix of alternative rock\, classic rock\, and metal covers\, sprinkled with their own original tunes. Their vibe? Pure\, unadulterated rock and roll magic! \nSON/BOY // post punk indie \nSon/Boy is an original post-punk\, indie rock band with an emo flair. They come from Minneapolis\, and pride themselves on having a fast\, exciting flavor at their shows. With members Austin\, Daniel\, Ken\, and Phil\, there’s not a dull moment once they step foot on stage. \nSLIME MONSTERS FROM OUTER SPACE // garage punk \nSlime Monsters from Outer Space are Minneapolis’s sludgiest interstellar agitators\, hurling garage-punk chaos and Marxist manifestos through a wall of distortion. Composed of Lucky (vox/guitar)\, Brian (guitar)\, Phoenix (bass)\, and Ryan (drums)\, this quartet soundtracks the class war with riffs thicker than the nastiest goo and rhythms that hit like a proletariat uprising. Their original songs fuse gnarly garage-sludge with lyrics ripped straight from a radicalized B-movie—think UFO invasions soundtracking dialectical materialism\, or communist anthems delivered by tentacled overlords. Equal parts mosh pit frenzy and ideological fever dream\, their live shows leave crowds drenched in sweat\, beer\, and fury. Hailing from the smoldering remains of Minneapolis\, Slime Monsters from Outer Space are here to melt you with our sonic weapons of doom and leave you shrieking for more. \nMARY JAM // DIY punk \nSpirited garage rock outfit\, Mary Jam\, combines elements of DIY Punk\, Surf Rock\, and Grunge to create a blistering sound that will stick to you like day old chewing gum. Drummer Katy Fenasci\, and guitar player and vocalist Alli KB have an intimate musical relationship that spans the greater part of five years\, and culminated in the creation of Mary Jam after COVID-19 forced the pair into a year-long musical hiatus. Mary Jam describes their music as the theoretical result of a threesome between Dick Dale\, Nirvana\, and FIDLAR. The band also makes bold lyrical declarations in their music\, sometimes singing about beer and surfing\, and other times lamenting the over-militarization of police. Regardless of the topic\, Mary Jam performs with enough grit and desperation to get even the weariest of punks out of their booth and onto the dance floor. To date Mary Jam has released four singles\, and two rancorous EPs. The band’s most recent EP\, “Flowers for Algernon\,” showcase their playful songwriting and witty lyricism making them ready to become Garage Rock anthems that any uncoordinated 20-something can relate to. Mary Jam has been playing a barrage of uproarious shows across the Midwest\, and has no plans of stopping. They are releasing their 3rd EP in June. Catch them playing new tunes soon at a dive bar near you. \nProject 37 is a non-profit with a mission to provide spaces and opportunities for all ages to enjoy music in safe and sober environments. You can help us continue that goal by coming to shows\, following us on social media\, or telling people about what we do. \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Central MN Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
