SUMMARY:Nature Interrupted Exhibit with Erik Jon Olson
DESCRIPTION:The Paramount Center for the Arts is presenting the exhibit Nature Interrupted with featured artist Erik Jon Olson. \nOlson uses quilted plastic waste to examine the effects that consumerism\, mass consumption and particularly the use of plastic have on our climate\, water ways and wildlife. Each piece is constructed of eight to twelve layers of machine quilted and surged\, previously used\, single-use plastic. The “batting” consists of used pallet wrap. The thread is left-over from garment manufacturing. By layering environmental issues with social justice messaging\, his art emphasizes our alienation from the environment and each other\, our willingness to waste\, and our subsequent need for healing. \nThe exhibit is on display Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Paramount’s Lobby through the end of May \n\nRadio: \nWe have more information at KVSC.org\, visit the Area Events page. \n

SUMMARY:“Good People: A Photographic Exploration of Morrison County” Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Morrison County Historical Society is presenting the exhibit: “Good People: A Photographic Exploration of Morrison County.” \nThrough photography\, Anthony Marchetti examines questions that lack concrete answers. In 2018 he began photographing in Morrison County. Located in Minnesota’s geographic center\, Morrison presents a stark contrast to the Minnesota he has known. In both 2016 and 2020\, Trump’s margin of victory here ranked highest in the state. Monthly trips led to connections and preliminary photographic work. As he gained trust of residents on both sides of the political divide\, he learned more about their lifestyles and values\, passions and fears. To date\, the work consists of portraits and photographs of place such as small towns\, quarries and pastoral landscapes. \nThe exhibit will be on display at the museum until December 31. \n\nRadio: We have a link to more information at KVSC.org\, visit the Area Events page.
