DESCRIPTION:The St. Cloud State Women’s Center and LGBT Resource Center is hosting the event In Plain Sight: An Exploration of Experiences of LGBT Women in Minnesota and the Rural Midwest.  \nAcross media\, the rural is often depicted as hate-filled and reinforces the assumption that LGBTQ people cannot live safe\, happy\, and fulfilling lives in rural areas. SUMMARY:Anecdotal Architecture Exhibit at CSB/SJU
DESCRIPTION:The CSB/SJU Fine Arts Series is featuring the exhibit Anecdotal Architecture. \nThe fiber arts work of Liz Miller is currently on view at the Alice R. Rogers  and Target Galleries at the St. John’s Art Center. \nMiller’s wall-based fiber works and installation environments explore architecture\, boundaries\, and borders through the juxtaposition of architectural fragments and fiber-based adornment. Pieces of the built environment\, such as components of fences\, gutter guards\, or metal remnants of domestic interiors (such as stove grates) become armatures for ad-hoc weaving\, knotting\, and embellishment with rope\, cord\, and other textile materials. \nShe creates interdependent knotted topographies that allude to both structure and malleability while also recognizing and elevating aspects of human culture that are neglected\, overlooked\, or discarded. \nThe gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2 – 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 – 8 p.m. \n\nRadio: We have a link to more information at KVSC.org\, visit the Area Events page.
