SUMMARY:In Plain Sight: An Exploration of Experiences of LGBT Women in Minnesota and the Rural Midwest
DESCRIPTION:The St. Cloud State Women’s Center and LGBT Resource Center is hosting the event In Plain Sight: An Exploration of Experiences of LGBT Women in Minnesota and the Rural Midwest.  \nAcross media\, the rural is often depicted as hate-filled and reinforces the assumption that LGBTQ people cannot live safe\, happy\, and fulfilling lives in rural areas. The In Plain Sight documentary asks how we have come to imagine what life is like for LGBTQ people in rural places–and provides an opportunity to imagine it otherwise. The film interviews queer women in the upper Midwest\, including St. Cloud\, on their lived experiences. \nAfter the screening\, participants will have an opportunity to discuss and reflect in small groups. Warm drinks and dessert provided.  \nThe event is Tuesday\, November 1st from 6-7 p.m.  in the Atwood Memorial Center Voyageurs South room.   \n\n
